The music and audio needed to be implemented in such a way that it would need to work with a variety of activities, fit the individual themes associated with each activity, and highlight the education content while still making the activity fun. This year I am responsible for writing original music for a taiko drum ensemble, a solo piano sonata, and production related work. Previously I have written three original full scale symphonic works. It has been a thrill to build these pieces from the ground up for PNB. I have collaborated with the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra who will be featured who will again be featured this year. This is the second installment of three commissioned works Gaines will bring to Arkansas audiences and is a departure from his choreographic style as it demonstrates more spherical movement than quick-silver footwork. Styles of dance included rhythm, tap, hip hop, classical ballet, and modern dance. I was also asked to join the dancers on stage and perform live to each original piece. I co-wrote and performed this original score with composer and violinist Garrett Overcash.
